A celebration of extraordinary Latin music and the Hispanic heritage and culture, presented by the Hispanic American Musicians and Artists Cultural Association

(H.A.M.A.C.A.).  This 3-day festival is a unique event featuring international headline entertainment held on the New Orleans riverfront October 9th through October 11th, 2009.  Carnaval Latino 2009 elements will include: a traditional New Orleans parade with a Latin twist that features visiting musical stars and will be led by a celebrity king or queen; top headline entertainment, music and folkloric dance representing Latin America, Spain, Portugal and the Caribbean and an extensive array of Hispanic food, drinks, the visual arts and interactive entertainment and activities for people of all ages.  This year the Garcia Brothers Circus is making its first appearance in New Orleans since the 1984 World's Fair

As New Orleans continues to rebuild, the city once renowned as the "Gateway to the Americas" is growing at a rapid pace thanks in large part to the hard work of Hispanics who have moved here from around the country. Our beloved city wants to reach out to its Latin community through this festival.  Many of the community's hispanic organizations are joining together to make this dream happen.  A portion of the Carnaval Latino 2009 proceeds will benefit H.A.M.A.C.A. a non-profit foundation dedicated to fostering the arts and those who give it life.
